Hello Cat Blogosphere...

We know it has been eons and eons since the lady let us post (please note, she has been downgraded from "mommy" to "the lady" for her bad ways) but we are taking matters into our own hands because our good buddy, Kimo of Cat Banter has gone missing!! Kimo was last seen yesterday around 2pm. His staff say that he must have just got out (ok, well maybe that a door might have been left open) and was tempted to just take a walkabout. But now it's been too long and eveyrone is very very worried. Can you please PLEASE say a little prayer for him that he is ok? We are purring and praying that he makes it home safely soon. We know his bruther Sabi and his sister Kiera are really missing him (not to mention the poor food lady and man).

Mommy is very upset. We got an email today from our good friends at Zoolatry about this despicable idea being considered in Mommy's home state of New Jersey. The email was originally sent by Jen, Tuck's mom and here it is:

I was hoping you could help me spread the word about a horrifying story I read in my local paper this morning. New Jersey officials are trying to ban TNR and instead, legalize the hunting of feral cats. I posted a link below to the story. If you could share this news with everyone on your mailing list I would really appreciate it. I'm asking everyone to write a letter or send an email to the NJ Fish & Game Council letting them know that we will not allow this to happen. I included the contact info for the council below.

Mommy is very fond of our feral brethren. She has been feeding feral kitties that come into our backyard for over a year. She and our next-door neighbors have saved 3 of 4 feral kittens and placed them into loving forever homes. Here are photos of 2 of the 3 saved kitties getting cleaned up (well, actually it looks more like they are snuggling and snoozing) at the V-E-T before getting to go to their forever home together!

It has been almost two months (TWO MONTHS!!) since Mommy helped us get on the computer. We think she should be charged by the good blogging police with a major blogstop violation. All we get is the same old story from her though... blah blah blah, chasing a toddler keeps her busy, blah blah blah, carrying another blurpy in her belly makes her tired and weird, blah blah blah, trying to still do her consulting work is hard enough, blah blah blah, oh and this new venture of hers just launched but get this - it's a NEW blog about finding things to do with bean kids. Do you believe it? She shouldn't be starting new blogs until she can keep up with the ones she already is supposed to be helping with, don't you think??? Oh well... hard to talk sense into pregnant mombeans sometimes. Anyhoo... we thought we would take this moment to wish you all a very love-filled and Happy Meowentines Day coming up in case she doesn't help us blog again for another two months. JEESH!

Feral Colony and lost little kitty

Ok, it's gone too far... Mommy has been feeding the feral kitties that live on our street. There are many of them and it started with putting food out in the backyard or the driveway. Then the food moved closer and closer until most recently there was a feral kitty every morning and every evening (and often in between) on our back deck looking for some foods. Then, Mommy had to stop feeding the kitties because well, frankly the yard started smelling like a big litterbox and she saw a flea on her leg one day while petting Ollie. Not being an outdoor cat, Ollie could have only had a flea hop on him from one of the ferals coming so close to the door to eat. She was sad about this but tried to stand firm for our safety and for the safety of our blurp. She was doing really well with not feeding them and even put the big bag of foods she bought especially for them in the shed so she wouldn't be tempted to slip them a little plate once and a while.

But then, yesterday, Mommy and the blurp were heading outside and stopped dead in their tracks to witness one of the ferals trying to get its brand-new kittens across the front lawn from the hostas to under the house. Well, they must have scared them because the momma and two babies took off but left behind one of the little babies who just wailed and wailed. Mommy was so nervous and put out milk and cat food (gotten from the shed) for the little left-behind kitten and hoped that maybe the food and milk would also make the mommy come back looking for it. Alas, hours later when she and the blurp returned the poor little kitten was still there. Sad and still and alone. Mommy got very nervous now because it had been several hours and it was very cold and the mommy clearly wasn't coming back for it. Thankfully, our Uncle Mike is an ER vet nurse and of course mommy called him for advice. After talking to Uncle Mike, mommy decided to get the kitten to a safe warm place out in the shed in a box with towels and then she fed him milk from an eyedropper. At first, he barely opened his mouth and she was thinking that he was in pretty bad shape but she managed to get a couple of drops in. Then, she went back to check on him and he lapped up about 3 droppers full of milk! Between mommy and our neighbor, Aunt Christine, that kitten got lots of love and milk for a few hours and it must have done him real good. Uncle Mike came by and picked him up and took him to the ER where they checked his fluids and checked him for diseases and he came back fine and all negative. The kitten can't eat or go to the bathroom by itself yet so it has a lot of learning to do but he's in good hands now and will surely be better off in many ways once he finds his forever home. Speaking of which we are a little annoyed but Mommy and Daddy said that since his tests for bad diseases came back negative, if the good nurses don't find him a forever home we might be taking him in here. Hrmph. Not sure we like the sounds of this but hopefully it won't come to pass...

Today is our birthday!!! We had a low key but fun time today celebrating our birthdays. Mommy gave us each our own salmon cake with a candle in it. And, we wore crowns. Ok, "wore" perhaps isn't the right word but we *enjoyed* crowns which made us feel very special.

We don't really mind all this rain. Mommy and Daddy and Blurpy get a little nuts about it raining so much but rain is good. Rain means you get sleepy and need to nap. Rain means birdies come out and get food and take baths. Rain means beans don't leave the house as much. We think rain is pretty great actually!! Happy Rainy Days to all!

Well, here are some more silly woofies in scarves. Mommy gave these woofies matching scarves for Christmas and apparently they love wearing them!! Perhaps you remember we introduced you to Floyd and Edie back in September. These adorable woofies are and the fur kids of our mommy and daddy's friends, Chris and Jim. We are glad they liked their christmas presents!!! Again these scarves (and the ones mommy gave to Bailey and Chaeli) were made by a local artisan here in Lansdowne at 79west designs. Cool, huh??

What a month

Wow! We can't believe our last post was so long ago now... It's been a busy month for our beans because our blurpy sister's 1 year birthday was on March 26th and Mommy and Daddy were busy preparing for a big family party and out of town guests. In addition to that Mommy has been very busy in her free moments with some consulting projects that are eatin' up all her time she would normally give us on the computer with her. This, we feel, is just not fair. We know she needs to help bring in some green papers but seriously, we do not like it when we cannot check our friends' blogs and see what is going on. For example, we didn't even know Kimo had to go to the V-E-T recently until Mommy told us because she says she saw it on facebook. WE say "stop spending your time making green papers and checking facebook and help us blog!!" What do you think?? Should Daddy help us blog more since Mommy has been so MIA? Also, Mommy claims that because our blurpy girl still is getting up at weird hours that somehow that is affecting her ability to help us blog. Come on lady... If you're up at 4am, that's more time for blogging, right???

Anyhooo... the party was hit with the beans though we stayed upstairs all day once the guests started to arrive. Here are some photos of Ollie with the Birthday Girl before her party really got going, though.

Look at these woofies in their sweaters!! Meet Bailey and Chaeli - two woofies who live in Baltimore with Mommy's friend Heather (who is going to have a blurpy soon - boy those woofies are in for it then). Mommy got these sweaters for them from a local craftsperson right here in Lansdowne. Aren't they great??? Still, we don't know about you but woofies in sweaters just make us a little uncomfortable. Oh well, to each their own, right???

Moody Mancat Monday

We officially declare today Moody Mancat Monday. Our blurpy sister got up real real early and woke up mommy and daddy and us and we all were awake from about 2:30-4:30am. Then, when the blurp finally decided to go back to sleep, Ollie decided to play the Push Things Off the Nightstand Loudly game and this made mommy and daddy very annoyed. So, we're all a bit "moody" today. Lack of sleep and patience will do that to the best of us, right??

But on a positive note we want to also say how grateful we are for some wonderful awardies we have received (even though Mommy didn't help us thank you on the bloggie sooner). LC, Ayla and Iza gave us the "Friends' awardie! We are so honored - thank you guys!! And, we also received a "Love Ya" awardie from Teri and the cats of Furrydance. Actually, we think they are the same award with different names perhaps. Thank you for such sweet and fun awards!!

What a week. First, we had visitors in town from South Carolina and Arizona. Then the blurpy got the nasty evil stomach virus bug and then the visitors got the nasty evil stomach virus bug and then Daddy got the nasty evil stomach virus bug. YUCK! Mommy has not been able to help us blog at all with all this sickness and visiting. In the midst of all that, look what arrived from the man in the brown shorts??? This thing seems to live with us now. It sleeps a lot but sometimes wakes up and makes noise while it runs around the house. Mommy says "it's wonderful". Daddy named it Ricky the Roomba. Blurpy and our out of town guests made a big deal of it the first time it ran around the house. They clapped and cheered and now everytime Blurpy sees it, she waves to it. Just like she waves to us. Hrmmph... Ricky better watch it. At least it seemed to know better than to suck up Mr. Chen's pink feather!!

Meowy Christmas! We hope everykitty and their beans had a great Christmas Day. We are sorry we did not get to post sooner or to visit more of you to extend our holiday wishes. We had a house full of beans on Christmas Day as Mommy and Daddy cooked a christmas feast for lots of our family. It was a very late night and then yesterday mommy and daddy said they were "recuperating" so nobody would help us do our bloggie posts. So, we just decided to deal with it and lay around with them and the blurp yesterday. So, today we will start to catch up as we can. Hope everyone had a wonderful wonderful day!!

So, Happy Belated Mancat Monday!!

We forgot to mention in our last post that we had so much fun getting our Secret Paw package ready to send out! Our Secret Paw this year was Laila and Minchie. We had so much fun shopping and getting their package ready. We hope they enjoy it as much as we enjoyed putting it together for them!! Meowy Christmouse Laila and Minchie!!

P.S. Mommy says here is a funny story for the beans.... When she was at the post office, she had about 8 different packages to mail including our secret paw package. She was doing the labels and realized that she let us draw all over the one to some of our bean family in Arizona. We wrote "Shhhhh... It's Your Secret Paw" and "Meowy Christmouse" and some other stuff. Mommy did a quick check and saw that and thought oh well... it's going to our beans in Az anyway. Then she drew on Laila and Minchie's package just like we drew for them on the package that went to our beans. Ha! Mommy had a good laugh about that one.

Oh what fun! What a great week it has been. We have been so tickled to receive everyone's cards in the mail!! Thank you so much! We LOVE LOVE LOVE to receive these holiday cards and greetings from our friends. For a while we were getting more than mommy and daddy (hee hee).

We are also very happy because the book we won from Kimo & Sabi, Dewey, also arrived from the man in the brown shorts this week.

What a week!!

We are so happy and so excited around these parts this week!! It's been quite a week - the week to top all weeks actually. Mommy and Daddy were ecstatic about our new President Elect Barack Obama. We are too! It means that EVERYONE no matter your gender, color, sex, or species will be considered equals and that anything is possible. It means that the United States can finally show its face to the world again and redeem some of its pride by now showing that we practice what we preach about democracy, about equality, about human rights, tolerance, about the real American Dream. Check it out - front pages of world papers say it all, really! It means so much, this historic election, that it's almost impossible to describe the joy felt around the world by so many. We must say however we are a little disappointed in his first executive decision to get a woofie in the White House. Let's hope this is the last of his bad decisions as President.

In addition to this humongous news, Mommy had some pretty big news of her own. She stopped going out hunting for green papers so she could be home all day long with US!! Her official first day home with us was on Monday so it's been our first full week together. This is very exciting for us as it means she can help us with our blogging more often again now, it means our food bowl will never go empty again during the daytime and it means we have someone to play with and cuddle us all day long now. Oh, and Mommy says it means she can be with the blurpy, too. Whatever mommy. We know why you REALLY stopped hunting...

Finally, the squirrels are going bonkers hiding their dumb nuts out in our flower pots on the back deck. It's that time of year, when they get a little crazy and start hording their foods and we get to watch and chase them. Though we are not allowed outside, the dumb squirrels get really brazen and run right along the back deck right in front of us. So this gives us lots of chance to chase them on the other side of the windows and to have staring contests with them. It is very fun!! Above are some photos of Mr. Chen chasing squirrels.

Election Day 2008

Mommy and Daddy and our blurpy girl got to vote this am. We are excited that it is looking very promising for an Obama win at this hour. Mommy says that finally we might actually have an intelligent, sensitive, thoughtful, genuine person into the highest office in the land again. Hooray for President Obama!!

We are so glad it's almost Friday!! Mommy has been very busy and has not even had time to help us with our Halloween costumes so we've not been able to enter any of the great Halloween contests going on. We are pretty ticked off about this and we have decided we are going to lie on her head and bite her toes until she helps us make them this weekend.

Hope all your beans are being more agreeable... Mommy does have some pretty big news to share soon though. She said we can't tell you yet but pretty soon we will be able to tell the whole Cat Blogosphere. Things are going to be real different around here soon!! Yay!

Happy Fall Saturday

Today is a great day! It's a beautiful fall day here in Lansdowne. The weather is sunny and crisp. Great snuggling weather! This morning, Mr. Chen woke up mommy and daddy by playing chase the sleeping bean's toes. Later on we are going to watch the squirrels as they run back and forth on the back deck and then take snoozes on each others beds.

Thirteen Ways We Are More a Team of Mavericks Than That Other Team of Mavericks
1. Just yesterday, we slept in each other's beds (see photo above).
2. Mr. Chen scratches the kitchen cabinets even though he's repeatedly told not to.
3. Mr. Chen scratches the dining room chair legs even though he's repeatedly told not to.
4. Ollie cries at the top of his lungs whenever our blurpy girl is asleep even though mommy chases him and sometimes threatens him with the pink water sprayer weapon.
5. Ollie goes #1 in the Breeze box but not #2.
6. Mr. Chen won't go in the Breeze box at all.
7. Mr. Chen won't go in his regular box if it's messy.
8. We both climb on the kitchen counter whenever we possibly can and mommy's not looking.
9. Mr. Chen licks nan - even when mommy and daddy ARE looking.
10. When we first came to our forever homes, Ollie's nickname was "No Ollie NO" because he was such a maverick.
11. Mr. Chen takes his food out of the bowl and swats it around on the floor like a toy.
12. Ollie will attempt to get into any toy or device that is meant for the blurpy even though mommy tells him not to.
13. Even sitting still doing absolutely nothing but licking ourselves, we are still more mavericky than that other team of mavericks.

Playing Catch Up

We have SOOOOO much catching up to do! Mommy and Daddy just returned from a long weekend vacation with our blurpy sister. They went to stay at a B&B called At Melissa's in Rehoboth, DE. They said it was wonderful and anyone looking for a fantastic relaxing place to stay a block and a half from the beach should stay there. Unfortunately, while it was "kid friendly" it apparently was not "cat friendly" enough for them to take us along. We didn't even know they were going and so we have not been able to get on the computer and finish looking at everyone's entries for Karl's I Dare You All #4, Part 2. We will try to catch up on that this week!! If we didn't visit yours yet, sorry for not coming around to see all the entries sooner. Beans, they can really ruin our plans, can't they???

Happy and Sad

Guess that is life for you but we are so saddened to learn of sweet naner lovin Pixie going to the Rainbow Bridge. We've been, um, well, a bit behind since the weekend and mommy keeps saying the werk and having to make green papers are causing her to not share the computer but still... important things happen and we're out of the loop. Daisy, we are so very sorry for the loss of your sweet sister, Pixie. We're sending you and your mommy big hugs and all our love. Even though Pixie had a weak heart and has been so brave for so long, we know how hard this must be on you right now. We are very very sad.

We were happy (until we learned about Pixie) because Ariel gave us the I Love Your Blog awardie and we were so touched! Thank you Sweet Ariel!! You are too kind! We feel very very honored. We love so many bloggies out there and there are so many of you we would give this awardie too. (Many of you already have it anyway.)

Finally, we thought we'd end on a happy note to introduce two friends of ours. Now, they are woofies so don't be too nervous but they are very nice. The big one is Floyd and we've know him for a while. But, Floyd got a new little sister named Edie this weekend. Isn't she cute??? They are getting along great and love each other already. You will read more about both Floyd and Edie soon, we promise!

Dare to Care

Do you accept the dare? Karl of the Cat Realm dared us all to "Get Involved" and come up with a dare. Mommy, Daddy, Ollie, Sophie, and Mr. Chen all accepted Karl's challenge. And amazingly, Mr. Chen's dare won the contest!!

Mr. Chen dared you all to come up with one creative, fun, useful way to save the environment and put a picture of yourself doing it on your blog!

So, here is Mr. Chen doing his own dare!! Now, we DARE YOU!

I, Mr. Chen, always use reusable cloth sacks when getting my groceries. Don't use the plastic baggies or even the brown paper bags. They BOTH use up resources that are bad for the environment. Instead, buy a sack at your local farmers market or natural foods store or anywhere really. Use that sack when doing your shopping or just for carrying stuff around.

See what's in my groceries?? Don't forget the butter!

Shoot, I thought I bought two bags of delicious temptayshuns but I guess I only got one. Oh well!

Then, after you put your groceries away, you can play in your reusable sack!!

Mommy, Daddy, Ollie and our blurpy, Sophie, will also be posting their fun, creative ways to save the environment throughout the week, too. We look forward to seeing yours - if you DARE!!

I Dare You All, #4, Part 1

WOWIEEE KAZOWIEEE!!! Karl of The Cat Realm has informed me that I, Mr. Chen, have won the I Dare You All #4 contest with my dare entry. This is so wonderful... I'm so excited...I've never won anything before in my whole two and a half years of life (I will secretly admit to you that I was a little bit jealous of Ollie when he won the 2007 Full Monty contest but I tried really hard to not show it so I don't think anybody really noticed much). I am so happy and honored that my dare was the winner selected by the esteemed judges. Thank you, judges!! THANK YOU!!

And, here it is: my winning dare:

NOW I hope that everykitty, everywoofie, everybun, and everybean (since they're the ones that have messed up the environment so bad anyway) goes out and does this dare. It will be a lot of fun!

Breeze Box Woes

Mommy and Daddy decided to have us try the new Breeze Box after reading about it on Millie's bloggie. It sounded really appealing to them and so one was ordered and set-up for us earlier this week. The instructions say to place it next to the old box and to put some (about 1-2 cups which is a lot given that they don't give you that many pellets to begin with) of the Breeze pellets in the old box and then to "stop maintaining" the old box. Well... this is not really working out for us. We tried the Breeze box (Ollie peed in it once) but keep going back to the old box. And, the old box got so bad that Ollie kept walking away from both of them. This is a little bit of an issue... One big green box with dumb pellets in it and one big messy box with sand. What's a kitty to do????

Wait a minute!!! Mommy just read Millie's bloggie entry again - we need more pellets!!! Off to the store she goes...

Back to normal here

Things are sort of returning back to normal here... Ollie is back to blurpy-sitting. And, he's doing almost TOO good a job. Last night, in the middle of the night, Daddy woke Mommy up and said "Look in the Co-Sleeper"* and Mommy woke up out of a sound sleep and there was Ollie lying in the Co-Sleeper RIGHT NEXT TO SOPHIA. And, Ollie knows he is NOT SUPPOSED TO GO IN THE CO-SLEEPER. We get squirted and yelled at when we try to go in there. Ollie knows better but I guess he decided to break the rulz. Well, Mommy quick fast got the blurpy out and then yelled at Ollie and squirted him. And he did stop doing it - for a little while. But, then he kept trying to get back in there, Mommy kept yelling and kept squirting. Finally, everybody went back to sleep. But, then Mommy woke up and looked over and yep, there was Ollie, all curled up and sleeping hard in Sophia's co-sleeper. Do you believe it? He's really bold, isn't he??? According to Ollie, he was just helping blurpy-sit. I don't know, I think he was just being B-A-D. Mommy wishes she had the flashy box near the bed because she says she would have taken a picture of him sleeping in the co-sleeper right beside Sophie before she squirted him and yelled to get out even though he is not supposed to be in there.

*Pawnote: A Co-Sleeper, for those of you kitties with no blurpies around, is a little bed that attaches to the side of the bean bed so blurpies can be close by when they're sleeping. In Ollie's defense, I do have to say, it looks ALOT like a kitty bed. But, still...

Tails Tuesday

See how our tails curl up differently here? Mr. Chen's makes a round hook like shape and Ollie's has a little bend in it. We are still recovering from the sadness of last week. What can we do...

We are still wanting to help. We are still wanting them to know how much they are in our hearts. We have sent our fabric square to help wrap Sweet Sprout in love, we have light a candle and said a prayer, we have donated to help pay medical expenses, we have sent a card, we have emailed Monty and his family, we have changed our blog violet, we will wear Violet tomorrow, we are hugging each other extra tight, we will join our friends from all around the world tomorrow to have a moment of silence at 9am to mark the beginning of the services for Sprout. Our eyes have leaked and leaked and leaked some more. What else can we do? There must be more....

Most Awful News

This morning we learned the most horrible news... Our dear close friend, Monty Q, has had a terrible tragedy in his house. His beautiful baby sister, Violette (aka Sprout), has been taken from his family way too soon. It is with so much sadness in our hearts and so much grief that we send our deepest sympathies to Monty, MomBean Tracey, and the entire family. We can only say that Heaven is a sweeter place now for having dear Sprout there so early. Mommy's eyes cannot stop leaking and she might not stop hugging or holding Sophie all week. Please stop by and send Monty and MomBean and the whole family your love. They will need it this week and beyond...
