Beautiful Woofie in Distress

Hi Everyone, as you know we don't normally post about woofies too much but this woofie really needs some help.

Our godfather, Uncle Mike, works as a veterinary technician at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Mike has taken on financial and legal responsibility for this woofie who was about to be euthanized but Mike could not allow it because this woofie has obviously had such a tough life and deserves the joy of a forever home now.

Percy's Story
This woofie's name is Percy and he came into the University of Pennsylvania's emergency room skin and bones, flea infested, missing half his hind leg. The injury was not new, which means some very bad person let him live like that for a while - probably in extreme pain. The wound was infected, dirty, and the tissues and nerve endings were dead by the time he came in. And, yet he came in wagging his tail. The people who brought him in were not the owners, however they knew who the owners were. They were supposed to call with the info, but of course, there was never any phone call. Percy needed a blood transfusion from the flea anemia probably as well as loss of blood from the traumatic leg amputation. The rest of his leg was amputated on Friday at Penn and he is now in a foster home at the moment.

The problem is he can't stay too long in the foster home as the foster mother has eight other dogs. We are looking to place him in a home without cats (sorry cat blogosphere but Percy needs some special help) because he seems somewhat aggressive to them. He seems ok with dogs, but probably the best environment for Percy is going to be in a single animal home for now. He has shown some aggression with dogs, but that may be because he was introduced to eight at one time and he was in a crate. We are requesting a home without kids because we don't know his background and don't want anyone to get hurt. He appears very sweet and submissive to humans and would make the right person a great dog. Percy has had a pretty horrible life up until now, and we are hoping to find him the right and best home for him and a perfect companion for someone.

If you or anyone you know might be interested in giving Percy his forever home, please email us at chenandollie [at] gmail [dot] com and we will pass along your interest immediately to our godfather Mike.

WARNING: These photos are very disturbing.

These photos are of Percy when he was first brought into the Veterinary Hosptial.

These photos are after Percy had the successful amputation of the rest of what was left of his leg. You can see he is a happy young woofie who wants to love and play.

Please help spread the word about Percy to any friends of animals circles. Percy's story has also been posted to the Pit Bull Rescue site in Philadelphia. Thanks everyone for your help!!

Oh my goodness, poor Percy! He's really had a tough time of it, and my heart goes out to him and to your kind-hearted godfather, Uncle Mike. I hope so much that Percy finds a forever home very, very soon! I will be purring for him as will my sisters and brother.

Thank you so much, Chen and Ollie, for your purrs and well-wishes -- I am feeling great today, quite back to my normal Brainball self, and it feels so good!

Floofy headbonks from Brainball.

Poor Percy. :( He certainly has had a rough life. I don't know how anyone could treat an animal like that. You have a wonderful godfather in Uncle Mike.

I hope Percy finds a wonderful Forever Home. He certainly deserves one.

Such a heartbreaking story. My heart just hurts for this poor doggie. I will pray for someone to want to love him forver. It is all we all only want and need.
I am feeling a bit better, right now I am sitting on mommies lap for the first time in weeks. It is my third time out of the frying pan so far today. I also ate and coughed a whole bunch on and off all day...but it is getting better because I am purrrrring and feel happy. Having so much love all around me and the warmth you are bring to me here in my frying pan makes this a happy place.
Lots of love to you, Miss Peach

Poor Percy! I am very angry at the people who let him get in this condition.

I hope Percy can find a fantastic new Forever home so he can have some of the happiness and love he deserves.

We LOVE the photo of Ollie and daddie below. Sooooo wonderful. Daddies are the best! (next to mom's though)

WE are so sad to learn about Percy.
It just makes us so sad to think that beans are mean to animals
We hope someone will take him home and give him the happiest life ever.
He has suffered way too much and now he needs to be spoiled and loved!

That is really horrible. Some bean was using him to dog fight. I cannot imagine living a life like that. I really can't. I hope someone takes him in.
