Feel the Daddy Love
See how much I love my Daddy? I like to give and receive kisses and neck rubs.
Hope everyone has a very happy Sunday filled with kisses and purrs.
Speaking of purrs, we are sending our strongest purrs and prayers out to Miss Peach who is recuperating nicely in her frying pan but still needs our healing purrs and love.

Happy Friday
We thought this was just the greatest photo. We know most of you have probably already seen this around the internets but just look at this monky loving this bird! Mommy loves this so much! Not only does she love monkeys but she also loves pigeons so this photo and story make her espeically happy.
The 12-week-old macaque was rescued on Neilingding Island, in Goangdong Province, China, after being abandoned by his mother.
Taken to an animal hospital, he was weaned back to physical health but still showed little appetite for life.
It was not until a fellow patient, a white pigeon, took him under her wing and showed him love and affection that he perked up.
Now the two are inseparable, say staff. Talk about a real NOMSS Friend!!!
We hope all kitties and monkeys and pigeons and everybody has a wonderful weekend!

Thursday Thirteen #13
For this week's edition of Thursday Thirteen we thought we would share with you thirteen things mommy, daddy, mr. chen and Ollie love about Philadelphia. As we told you in a previous TT, we actually live in a town called Lansdowne but we are so close to Philly that we feel we need to tell you about our great city.
1. We are from Philly and mommy and daddy got us at the wonderful Philadelphia based Morris Animal Refuge.
2. The fantastic Philadelphia Art Museum and the other local museums including The Barnes Museum The Mutter Museum, The Brandywine River Museum.
3. Restaurants in Philadelphia. Mommy and daddy think the restaurant scence is fantastic. So many different cuisines and lots of really great local joints and bars. Favorites include Bar Ferdinand, Jack's Firehouse, Caribou Cafe, Veitnam, and SangKee to name just a few of their favorites.
4. The Italian Market is the oldest and largest working outdoor market in the US. The Italian Market is the best place to go for produce, meats, and more.
5. Reading Terminal Market is a fantastic indoor covered market with many vendors selling fish, cheese, produce, meats, flowers, prepared foods - you name it. Some favorite stops inside include cheesesteaks at Rick's, breakfast at Downhome Diner OR the Dutch Eating Place. And for dessert, ice cream at Bassets.
6. For true Philly vibe, you must either bike or rollerblade along the river at Boathouse Row or take a night drive along the Schuylkill River when the boathouses are all lit up.
7. As far as historic cities go, you can't get much more history than in Philadelphia, the birthplace of the nation. Just check out Independence Mall which has the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall the new(ish) National Constitution Center and much more.
8. Cheesesteaks!! Philly is known for its cheesesteaks and rightly so. There is a heated competition between local owner's Pats and Genos (not to mention all the faction cheesesteak competitions). In our mommy and daddy's book, Pat's is the only answer when on Passyunk.
9. Philly soft pretzels. Yep, we're known for these, too.
10. The Philadelphia Zoo is the nation's oldest zoo. Lots of fun and with the zoo ballon even more so now.
11. The Elmwood Park Zoo is not *technically* in Philadelphia (it's in a suburb called, Norristown) but it's also a wonderful little zoo. With smaller and more manageable grounds, it can be a great way to get up and close and personal with the animals. Mommy especially loves the birdies there. Mmmmm birdies.
12. The shore. You haven't really visited Philly if you haven't been to "the shore". Every proper Philadelphian goes to the shore. Mommy has always gone to Ocean City, New Jersey since she was a little girl. (Daddy prefers beaches in another state called Delaware but maybe we'll post about that in another Thursday Thirteen someday.)
13. If you want a world-class science museum, The Franklin Institute is a wonderful place to visit with lots of hands on interactive science exhibits including a giant heart that you can walk through and much more. Special exhibits there are also cool like The Body Worlds exhibit that came a few years ago and The King Tut exhibit which is just wrapping up.
We hope you've enjoyed these 13 things about Philadelphia!! Come and visit soon!

The Name Meme
We've been tagged for the name meme by the two beautiful Bengal kitties, Starbuck and Torrey, and the Maine Coon, Sebastian, to tell you all how we got our names.
Well, Mr. Chen's name was the name he had at the Morris Animal Shelter. It was given to him by his foster home. Ollie was so named because mommy and daddy joked around that if they ever had a bean baby, they would name it Oliver Oliver. When mommy and daddy were trying to think of names for both of us, they had made a long list with names like Salt and Pepper, Rock and Roll, Tweedy and Van Halen, and many many more. But, they just couldn't bring themselves to change Mr. Chen's name. It just suits him perfectly! So, Ollie was chosen because they did not have to pick out names that matched or went together since Mr. Chen was keeping his.
Thanks for tagging us, Starbuck, Torrey, and Sebastain - that was fun! We're so sorry it took us a while to play along. Mommy has been pretty out of it. We're working on training her to help us keep up with our friends better.
We now would like to tag the following three kitties:
Kimo & Sabi, and Luna Or, any kitty that hasn't played along already.

Fun Funky Friday
Hooray! It's the weekeend! Hope everybody has a wonderful funky Friday and a good weekend. Mommy and Daddy said they are not going to be able to help us get on the computer much this weekend but we will look forward to visiting you all as soon as we can.
In our news, Mr. Chen got a clean bill of health from the V-E-T. His bloodwork came back all negative and so did his fecal sample. Now, Mommy and Daddy just have to try and isolate which food might be upsetting his little tummy. He did have a very hard time and a very strong reaction to the vaccines yesterday and mommy and daddy were very scrared. But, they talked to the V-E-T and his symptoms seemed fairly normal even though mommy and daddy had never seen him so sick. By the time mommy got home from work, he was all better and back to his old self.
Hope everykitty and everybean has a very happy september weekend!

Thank you Monty Q. and Mombean!
It's here! It's here! Ollie's prize for winning the Monty Q. Doing the Q Full Monty contest arrived today! It was just what we needed because we had to go to the V-E-T today and it was VERY traumatic for us both. (Please...don't worry too much about us. Mr. Chen was very scared but he had to get his annual check-up, and his booster shots. Also, he had to get some bloodwork to see if we can find out what's causing him to have a bad belly. Ollie went along for the ride.)
When we came home we got to open the wonderful prize package from Monty Q. and mombean and wowie - what loot. There was a very nice card, two bags of kitty treats, and the best of all - Ollie's very own custom-sized kitty bed. We had so much fun opening the package - thanks Monty and Mombean!! It is so specail to us both!

In all the excitement of our 1st Gotcha Day, we forgot to pass along the Nice Matters Awardie to some other nice kitties. (We are so embarrassed - please forgive us for forgetting to do this. It wasn't very nice of us, now, was it???) We would like to pass on this Nice Matters award to our good friends Karl and Honey P. Thanks again to our good budski Chairman Mao for nominating us and congratulations to two very nice and very deserving kitties!

Saturday Facts
Oh boy! We've been tagged by Kimo & Sabi for a Meme.
This was apparently supposed to be a Thursday Thirteen meme but Kimo & Sabi did it on Friday and we're going to extend it to Saturday. (It's always good to extend fun as long as possible, don't you agree?)
Here's the rules fur this meme:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules.
2. Write some facts about yourself: some random, some weird, some just plain fun.
3. Tag 7 cats (or whutever) at the end of your post and list their names (linking to them).
4. Let those 7 know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment at their blogs.
The challenge is to keep it interesting wifhout making the reader think “Um, too much information."
Let's begin:
1. Ollie's new favorite hobby is eating batting.
2. Mr. Chen loves to pounce on things and sometimes when mommy and daddy come downstairs in the morning, he takes a running jump and pounces at their legs. (For fun, not for kill of course...)
3. Ollie has a signature sound - he shakes his head so loud that we all know when he's coming.
4. Mr. Chen has a signature sound - it's a cross between a whine and a sigh but he does it even if he's happy.
5. Mousing is Mr. Chen's favorite pastime.
6. Sleeping is Ollie's favorite pastime.
7. One of Ollie's favorite poses is to tilt his head, rest it on one arm, and then stick the other long arm all the way out. It is very funny and he looks incredibly bored when he does this.
8. Mr. Chen is very afraid of strangers. Just the other day, daddy found Mr. Chen hiding under the guest room comforter because a painter had come in the house.
9. Ollie likes to give and receive kisses and be picked up. Mr. Chen does not.
10. The red dot makes Ollie insane. Mr. Chen could usually care less about red dots.
11. Watching birdies and squirrels is favorite passtime number two for both of us.
12. Mr. Chen sleeps in daddy's "nest" (right between the knees) and Ollie sleeps in mommy's "nest" at night.
13. We love all you kitties in the cat blogosphere and are so happy we met you all!!
Now, we tag the following 7 kitties if they want to play, too: Monty, Caesar & Princess, Karl, Honey P., Poppy Q., and Marie. Thanks Kimo and Sabi for a very fun meme!!

Our 1st Gotcha Day
Today is a very special day as it marks our first Gotcha Day!!
One year ago today, Mommy and Daddy brought us home together from Morris Animal Shelter. Mommy and Daddy said that after our big brother who we never met went to the bridge, they were so sad and the house was so quiet that about a week later they became obsessed with finding a new kitty to love. They went to the SPCA but it was closed and they went to every pet store they knew (even though their vet friends told them not to get kitties from pet stores) and they weren't able to find any little kittens.
Finally, Aunt Christine recommended that they try Morris Animal Shelter in Center City Philadelphia so they made a special trip and went down to look. Morris had many, many kitties for adoption there. Mommy and Daddy had to fill out some paperwork and it took a few days to get approved so they could not pick out a kitty that night. They did however see one kitty they liked and were asked to write down his number and once they were approved they could see about taking that kitty home. Thankfully, when they found out that they were approved, that kitty was sick and was not able to be taken home (we hope he is better now of course). So, they came back into the shelter not knowing what they were going to find. Lo and behold when they walked in, Leslye (the animal adoption coordinator) told them they had just the right kitty for them. She reached into a little basket in the front display window and picked out Mr. Chen and plopped him in mommy's arms. Mommy and Daddy just about lost it because they said they only thing they could NOT do was to look at any black kitties because it would remind them too much of their beloved Bingo. And of course Mr. Chen is black! Well, after a little while holding him mommy and daddy realized just how special he is but they still weren't sure. So, they decided to look at other kitties back in the cages. Leslye took them back and they looked at several very beautiful kitties. Daddy was very drawn to one little sleepy kitty, who was a gray tabby. Daddy kept going back to this kitty but Mommy and Daddy still liked Mr. Chen, too. Lesyle said "why don't you take both?" And, that's just what mommy and daddy did! They still didn't get to take us home that night as we had to get our hoo-haa operations done and some shots. Finally on Sept. 13, 2006 Mommy and Daddy got to go back to Morris and take us both home. We were put into one cat carriers together and that is how we became brothers forever!
Once we arrived at the house, Mr. Chen immediately began to play. Ollie got a head-cold between the time mommy and daddy picked him out and then picked him up so he was very snuggly and sleepy and just liked to rest. Ollie did not have a name in the shelter and we do not know what his story was. But, Mr. Chen was named Mr. Chen by his foster family. Although mommy and daddy had several other names picked out for us (including Rock and Roll!) they just didn't think anything was more fitting than Mr. Chen so they kept it.
We are very happy kitties to have found our forever homes and found each other as best brothers ever! Happy 1st Gotcha Day to us!!

Tuesday Mousing
Here's some Tuesday mousing going on in our bathroom. Since mommy and daddy are getting the house painted on the inside, there are all sorts of fun things to play with. Here I am, Mr. Chen, playing with my mousie amidst the billowing curtains hanging on a towel rack in the bathroom before it gets the paint treatment. Notice my tail action!?
